We are pleased to announce the 16th Asian Urbanization Conference, hosted by the Vietnamese-German University in Binh Duong Province, Vietnam. This prestigious international conference serves as a platform for researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and stakeholders to exchange knowledge, insights, and experiences on the diverse facets of urbanization in Asia. The conference aims to explore innovative ideas, discuss challenges, and identify sustainable solutions for urban development in the Asian context.
Conference Theme: “Asian Urbanization: Forging a Livable and Sustainable Urban Future”
The 16th Asian Urbanization Conference invites participants to submit original research papers, case studies, and innovative solutions related to the conference theme. We encourage submissions that present both theoretical and empirical contributions, addressing the challenges, opportunities, and best practices in urbanization across Asian cities. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
Papers broadly addressing urbanization, sustainable development, cities & city regions, urban & regional planning, urban sustainability, and urban livability in the Asian context and at various scales (local, local / regional, and global / regional) are welcomed.
This conference is the latest iteration of the long-running Asian Urbanization Conference series that dates to 1985 with the most recent successful conferences in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam (Vietnamese – German University) in 2019, Bangkok, Thailand (King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology-Ladkrabang; 2018), Yogyakarta, Indonesia (Gadjah Madah University; 2015), and Varanasi, India (Banares Hindu University; 2013). Local organizers have collaborated to host each of these conferences in collaboration with the Asian Urban Research Association (AURA).

Conference Days
The conference is seeking submissions related to the mentioned conference topics. Other related topics will also be considered. Submitted abstracts will be evaluated by the Scientific Board. If abstract is accepted, author agrees to send full text paper, including results, tables, figures and references. All submissions should report original and previously unpublished research results no matter the type of research paper you are presenting.
Manuscripts should meet the format set by the Conference committee and are subject to review.
Ideally, an abstract provides information on the description of the topic, theoretical focus, objectives, study area, data, and research methods, expected findings, and significance. Early submission of the paper abstract is highly encouraged for the smooth functioning of the conference. Papers broadly related to the conference themes are encouraged. Other papers which contribute to an understanding of Asian cities and Asian urbanization are welcomed.
Abstracts/papers will be selected through the SCOPUS peer review process and will be considered for JOURNAL publication after the conference is successfully over.
We encourage you to invite colleagues to participate in the conference and submit original research for the conference call for papers.
